How to Use Multilingual Language Settings in WhatsApp Chatbot

Adding multiple languages to your chatbot helps you communicate with users in their preferred language and create a more inclusive experience.
Geta.ai supports multilingual settings for both Web Bots and WhatsApp Bots, allowing you to configure and manage up to 12 secondary languages such as Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, and more — directly from your bot configuration panel.

Follow these steps to add, translate, and activate multilingual support for your chatbot in Geta.ai.

Step 1: Log In to Geta.ai

  • Go to Geta.ai and log in using your credentials.
  • You will land on your main dashboard.

Step 2: Open the Bot Builder Module

  • From the left-hand sidebar menu, click on Bot Builder.
  • This section lists all your active WhatsApp Bots.

Step 3: Select Your Chatbot

  • Click on the chatbot you want to enable multilingual support for.
  • Then, click Manage to open the chatbot configuration page.

Step 4: Go to the Settings Tab

  • Inside your Chatbot, navigate to the Settings tab.

Step 5: Go to Language Settings

  • Scroll down and click on Language Settings.
  • This section allows you to add and manage multiple languages for your chatbot.

Step 6: Add Secondary Languages

  • Click on Add Language.
  • Select the secondary languages you want to enable (up to 12).
    For example: Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati, etc.
  • Then click Save.

Step 7: Download Translation Files

  • Click on Download Translation for each added language.
  • The file will include all chatbot messages in English, ready for translation.

Step 8: Translate the File in Google Sheets

  • Open the downloaded file in Google Sheets.
  • In the translation column "Translated text (Hindi/or the language selected by the user) ", use the Google Translate formula:
    =GOOGLETRANSLATE(<source_cell>,"en","<target_language_code>")

Example:

  • Hindi → =GOOGLETRANSLATE(A2,"en","hi")

  • Kannada → =GOOGLETRANSLATE(A2,"en","kn")

Press Enter, then drag down the formula to translate all text automatically.

Step 9: Review Translations

  • Manually review the translated text for accuracy and tone.
  • Ensure placeholders like {{name}}, product names, and variables remain unchanged.

Step 10: Upload Translated Files

  • Go back to Geta.aiBot Builder → your chatbot → Settings → Language Settings.
  • Click Upload File and upload each translated file for its respective language.

Step 11: Add a Custom Language Selection Message

  • In the Custom Message section, write a friendly greeting header and body message that asks users the first time to choose their preferred language and Click on Save after writing the custom message.
    Example:
    “ЁЯСЛ Welcome! Please select your language to continue: English | рд╣рд┐рдиреНрджреА | рдорд░рд╛рдареА | родрооро┐ро┤рпН”
  • This message will appear automatically when users start a chat with your bot — both on Web and WhatsApp.

Step 12: Publish the Chatbot

  • After uploading translations and setting up the custom message, click Publish.
  • Your multilingual chatbot will now be live and ready to engage users in their chosen language.



Step 13: Test on Channels

  • For WhatsApp Bots: Open your connected WhatsApp number and start a new chat.

Select a language (e.g., Hindi or Tamil) and verify that the responses appear in the correct language.

Step 14: View Multilingual Chats in Inbox

  • Go to the Inbox Module in Geta.ai.
  • You can view conversations in the user’s selected language — ensuring smooth, context-aware support across channels.
